DotNetNuke 6.1.1 was released recently and we were soon upgrading our site with this new version and glad we did! It comes with the new "Client Resource Management" features which allows admins to specify which client side files to combine, reducing web request by 70% and making this one of the fastest versions of DotNetNuke to date.
CSS and JavaScript files are merged together on the server side which means that there are less calls made to all the separate files. This is something which we've been waiting for for a long time and we feel it's one of the most important areas of performance optimisation which end users can really benefit from.
Along with the new Mobile API with allows for Device Detection and Redirection, this new version comes packed with a host of new features. Content editors can now preview their page content as if viewed on a mobile device such as Android, Apple iOS, Windows Phone 7 and Blackberry devices - this feature is only available in the Professional and Enterprise versions.
