Since 2002 DotNetNuke has been releasing high quality, highly functional and reliable software and the trend is continuing with the release of DotNetNuke 7.0 - beta version.
We have had a look around and here are just some of the new features it contains.
New Skin and Control Panel
Firstly, the main skin (user interface) has changed making it much more user friendly (as if it wasn't already!!), it's also a great showcase for demonstrating how adaptable DNN is for producing great looking sites without losing any functionality. DotNetNuke 7.0 also contains a brand new control panel for managing your site, and with the addition of Modules, Pages and Users menu items, content and features relating to those sections can be accessed quickly. One of the most useful additions is the ability for users to personalise their menu by creating bookmarks.
Cross Site Module Sharing
Secondly, one of the major additions is the ability to cross share content over multiple websites. In both DotNetNuke 7.0 Professional and Enterprise Edition, users can now share modules across multiple sites with only one DNN install. With many users wanting to develop a mobile version of their already established desktop website this is great news. The cross sharing of modules means that content can be shared by the click of a button through the easy to use DNN CMS, without having to re-enter and duplicate tons of archived content.
Drag and Drop Modules and HTML Module Auto Save
Drag and Drop is back! Having been ommitted from DotNetNuke 6.0, the ability to drag and drop modules whilst in edit mode is now included in DNN 7.0 and from what we have seen it really is a great way to manage your website content. Another great feature (I am surprised at how useful this is!) is the ability to enable an 'Auto Save' option from the main module settings window, once enabled all content added via the editor will be automatically saved.
And Finally...
With the release of version 7.0, DotNetNuke looks set to retain it's place as one of the world's leading Content Management Systems (CMS). Now, with a much more user intuitive interface, the management and addition of content has never been easier. We'll keep you posted on any more additions and the official release date.
